Born in Dublin, Gerald Davis was a prominent Irish semi-abstract painter. He was also a gallerist who promoted the work of other Irish artists in Dublin, as well as a critic and a scholar of the work of James Joyce and founder of the record label LIVIA which released albums for Irish jazz musicians, poets and actors. He was a prominent member of the Jewish community in Ireland and commented on the arts and stories of Irish Jewish life in print and broadcast media.
