A striking original ink wash on handmade paper titled "Companions" by the artist Gerald Davis dating to 1984. Features a gestural abstracted composition of two figures in serious discussion on a bright yellow ground. Housed in a high quality gilt frame. Davis has a fantastic auction history with works fetching up to €3,400 at Whyte's.

Born in Dublin, Gerald Davis was a prominent Irish semi-abstract painter. He was also a gallerist who promoted the work of other Irish artists in Dublin, as well as a critic and a scholar of the work of James Joyce and founder of the record label LIVIA which released albums for Irish jazz musicians, poets and actors. He was a prominent member of the Jewish community in Ireland and commented on the arts and stories of Irish Jewish life in print and broadcast media.
