Norman J McCaig (1929-2001)
Norman McCaig was born in Bangor, Co Down in 1929. Coming from an artistic family, he took up painting full-time after studying at Belfast College of Art, and in Paris. He is known for his panoramic views of the Irish countryside, treated in an idealised manner. McCaig’s work is often sold at auction, often realising thousands of pounds, and is highly collectable.
