Super Star Lot: An exceptional antique Irish silver substantial religious sanctuary lamp, masterfully crafted by silversmith John Smyth in Dublin, dated 1893, with good clear hallmarks. This lamp is embellished with intricate engravings and embossed designs, featuring ornate floral and scroll motifs. The upper rim is adorned with a scalloped edge and pierced detailing, allowing light to emanate while protecting the flame. A prominent central monogram, likely "IHS" (a Christian symbol derived from the first three letters of the Greek name for Jesus, ΙΗΣΟΥΣ (Iēsous)). Complete with its original three Irish silver chains. An incredibly rare piece. Irish Silver total weight 3830 Grams. Best Irish Silver piece we have seen. Its so special it should attract International Interest. From the fabulous Nullamore house in Miltown Dublin. (slight loss to one of the arms, just missing a little scroll work.)
John Smyth was a notable Irish silversmith active in Dublin during the 19th century, renowned for his quality craftsmanship in sterling silver. Smyth established his business in Dublin in the late 1820's.
