Possibly after Adriaen von Ostade, (Haarlem, Netherlands, 1610-1685) 'A Dental Surgeon at Work' Oil on Panel. Mm: 40 cm x 35 cm.

As a Dutch Golden Age painter of genre works, this piece is highly typical of Ostade, who was known particularly for his window scenes and images of dentists at work. He is thought to have been a student of Frans Hals. The narrative crux of this painting is seen in the small tooth in the dentists hand, and the blood dripping from the mouth of his sorry patient.
