An original 19th century oil on canvas painting showing sublime scene of a ship on a stormy sea illuminated by moonlight. It is signed bottom left by the American artist J. Morris. Morris has an extensive auctions sales history and his work has had proven continuous popularity over the last 100 years.

John Morris is an 19th century painter who specialised in landscapes. His paintings are included in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo Museum of Art, the Honolulu Museum of Art, the Santa Barbara Museum of Artin addition to other museums. His works have been collected by Mrs. Aristotle Onassis, Frederick Loewe, Bing Crosby.
